Dress in Colour – Blue, Green and Red, 16 September 2026

Dress in blue, green or red and visit our exhibition  Sunshine and Joy of Life – Colourist Art in the 1910s(opens in new tab) free of charge on Wednesday, 16 September. During the summer of 2026, we celebrated three Dress in Colour days. Now it is time for a colourful rainbow-themed day!

June’s colour was blue. You can pick shades of blue for your outfit from Akseli Gallen-Kallela’s painting Clouds Above the Lake (1904–1906). Is your blue the blue of the sky, the dark stormy blue of a passing rain cloud, or perhaps the blue-green of a forest shimmering on the horizon?

July’s colour was green. You can pick shades of green for your outfit from Akseli Gallen-Kallela’s painting Heat (Against the Sun (From Leppävaara) (1909). Is your shade of green a bright grass green, a shadowy blue-green, or the deep green of the spruce trees at the edge of the forest?

August’s colour was red. You can pick shades of red for your outfit, for example, from Akseli Gallen-Kallela’s painting Pelargonium and the Moon, Ukamba (1909). Whether you are bright like a pelargonium in the moonlight, coral red like the cloak in the painting Nandi Tribe, or brick red like the background in the lively portrait of Phyllis Sjöström, you are warmly welcome to visit us wearing red!
