What to expect when visiting the museum

Gallen-Kallela Museum presents temporary exhibitions of the art and life of Gallen-Kallela and his contemporaries, as well as contemporary art. You can check the current exhibition from this link.

Safer spaces

We want everyone to feel welcome and safe here. Therefore, we have adopted Culture Espoo's principles for safer spaces. Be kind and polite when you visit us!

WC

The public toilet is located in the café building opposite the museum. There is also a baby changing table in the larger, accessible toilet room. There is no toilets or running water in the Museum building.

Parking Space

Parking space is located at the end of Gallen-Kallelan tie, outside the museum grounds. The area is limited, so parking is also possible along the road.

Parking with a disabled parking permit is permitted in the disabled parking space next to the café building.

Cycling to the Museum

A bicycle park is located on the hillside by the road leading up to the museum. A city bike station is located next to the car park during the summer. Please do not bring your bike in front of the museum or in the garden!

Public Transport for Visitors

You can come to the Museum with buses, train or tram. We recommend using HSL website or app for more information.

The closest bus stop is located at Tarvaspääntie roundabout in Perkkaa, Espoo 1,2 km from the Museum. We recommend using 502 Karhupuisto - Leppävaara or 202 Kamppi - Kauniala buses.

With Light Rail Line 15 Itäkeskus - Keilaniemi closest stop is Vermo. From the stop there is 1,5 km walk to the Museum.

You can walk through Tarvo island when coming to the Museum from Munkkiniemi, Helsinki. There is a 2,5 km walk to the Museum from tram 4 stop Laajalahden aukio. In good weather this route is best for scenery!

Museum Services for Visitors

We have a small Museum Shop with books, posters, gift items and more. In the Museum Shop you can also purchase tickets.

We organise open guided tours in English every Saturday at 3 pm. You can participate on open guided tour with Museum entrance fee, Finnish Museum Card or Kaikukortti.

Entrance fees

Adult ticket is 14 €, pensioners 9 € and discounted entrance fee is 7 €.  Children under 18 years free. Younger children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

Discounted entrance fee is available for students, unemployed, members of Ornamo and journalists with a valid press card.

Journalists who have been accredited in advance may visit our museum free of charge. We kindly ask journalists to email info@gallen-kallela.fi.

Booking a private tour

Guided tours in our museum are available for groups. Guided tours available in English, Swedish, Ukrainian, German, French and Russian. Only our own guides can lead groups at the museum premises.

Prices for guided tours in 2026: 95€/45 minutes on weekdays for groups of 25 persons at the most. 105€/45 minutes on weekends and public holidays. Entrance fees per participants 9€ (groups with more than 6 persons).

Please note our museum is a small space, and we can only host one group at a time. We do recommend enquiring café services also for larger groups from Tarvaspää Cafe Zoceria A bit of coffee or lunch can make waiting for your groups turn much cosier!

We offer guided tours free of charge to third-sector organizations, for example those working with immigrants or rehabilitation. Please contact anu.k.hamalainen@gallen-kallela.fi for further information.

Cards and Payment Methods

We prefer card payment at the museum shop.

Smartum, Epassi, Edenred vouchers are valid at the museum.

The Finnish Museum Card is a common ticket for over 300 museums, valid for one year from the first use. You can also buy a Museum Card or renew your Museum Card with us.

Photography

Photography is permitted inside the museum without flash.

Backpacks, Bags and Prams

Please leave large rucksacks and bags on the clothing racks by the museum info desk or in the lockers. Prams should be left on the porch in front of the museum, if possible. If you wish, you can borrow a baby carrier from the museum.

Cafe Zoceria Tarvaspää

The museum has a café-restaurant, which is generally open during the museum's opening hours. The café is run by a separate entrepreneur.
