Free Admission to the Museum on International Museum Day, 18 May 2026
The Gallen-Kallela Museum celebrates International Museum Day on Monday, 18 May 2026, by offering free admission to our exhibition Con amore – Akseli Gallen-Kallela’s graphic art. The museum is open from 11:00 to 18:00. We kindly ask all visitors to enter through the museum ticket desk.
International Museum Day has been celebrated on 18 May since 1977. The aim of the day is to raise awareness of the social role of museums among both the public and decision-makers. Today, nearly 30,000 museums in more than 120 countries join the celebrations with a variety of events. On 18 May 2026, museums worldwide will mark International Museum Day under the theme “Museums Uniting a Divided World”. The theme highlights the potential of museums to act as bridges across cultural, social, and geopolitical divides, fostering dialogue, understanding, inclusion and peace within and between communities worldwide.
Visiting and safety
The museum visit is organised with both visitor and artwork safety in mind. For this reason, only a limited number of visitors can be admitted at one time. Please be prepared for possible queuing and review the museum’s accessibility information before your visit.
Information for your visit
Please read the museum's accessibility information and the guidelines for safer spaces before visiting the museum. The accessibility information contains important information about the location of museum's parking space and toilets, and about the accessibility of our historical buildings.
